Research confirms that with each generation our nation’s children are drifting farther away from the faith of their fathers. This is in spite of the fact that one can’t drive very far in any direction in most cities without encountering a church. So where are we missing the target? At home, mostly. The church has our kids for one, perhaps two hours a week. School has them for 25 0r 30 hours each week. TV has them for 15 – 20 hours per week. Computers have them another 10 – 15 hours. When moms and dads turn the spiritual formation of their kids over to a church, any church, they’re reinforcing the notion that faith is external to real life.
