Healthy Family Structure

Have you ever seen a teen, or a two-year-old that runs the family?  If so, you’ve seen dysfunctional family structure at work.  One aspect of the “Family Therapy” field is known as “structuralism.”  It may sound dull but it actually brings laser-like insight into how successful marriages are structured (i.e., organized).  It teaches where to look when kids are consistently out of control.  It teaches about how different systems (i.e., components)  within a family function differently, what boundaries they need, and how they can be empowered to function best.

This article is a chapter of a course, so it provides break-points to ponder various issues.  The reader will be enriched if they take time to think about and possibly even journal their responses to the questions raised at these breakpoints.

John, I wanted to get a copy of the entire Healthy Family Structure document, but the PayPal link only offers the What We Bring to a Marriage document. As soon as you can get this fixed, I would love to see the full text. Thanks – very cool new website! Thanks for your ongoing ministry! Doug Smith (KHS – class of ’79)

    • Hey Doug:
Am cleaning up comments from my web page. Assume you got my e-mail in which I thanked you for bringing this to my attention, and mentioning that I’d fixed the problem. Hope you’re doing well.
      Blessings,
      John Splinter
